New Rochelle Principal Resigns After Being Placed on Leave
An interim principal has been put in place through the end of the school year.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY - A New Rochelle public school principal resigned after being placed on leave May 19.
Sonia Nunez, who has been principal at Columbus Elementary School since September 2012, has been replaced for the remainder of the school year by Ken Levy, according to the Journal News.
The district issued a statement, the Journal News said, that there is an ongoing investigation on which it would not comment.

A letter from Superintendent Brian Osborne posted on the elementary school’s website said Levy is an experienced retired elementary school principal “who has served in many interim capacities including both Trinity and Ward elementary schools in New Rochelle.”
