New Rochelle School Staffer Possibly Exposed To Coronavirus
Columbus Elementary School, where the staffer works, will be disinfected over the weekend.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City School District of New Rochelle said Saturday that a staff member at Columbus Elementary School has been asked to self-quarantine because of possible exposure to the new coronavirus. An email Saturday from Superintendent Dr. Laura Feijóo said the staff member will be in self-quarantine for 14 days.
Feijóo said the staffer found out about the possible exposure to COVID-19, as it's officially known, late Friday and alerted the appropriate school officials.
The district determined that the staff member may have first been exposed Wednesday, Feb. 26 and subsequently reported for work and was in the building Feb. 27, Feb. 28 and March 2 through March 5.

"Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure that the building is safe for our students and staff, we have ordered an additional thorough disinfection of the building over the weekend," she said.
"Please keep in mind that the building has been cleaned multiple times since Feb. 27," Feijóo said, adding that the all the buildings, including Columbus Elementary, will continue to be safe environments for the students and staff.
Feijóo said that the district has received no information from anyone or the health department that anyone attending the schools has tested positive for the coronavirus. The district has not been advised or directed by the Department of Health to close any of the schools at this time.
