NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The search for a new New Rochelle School District superintendent is still ongoing. Late last week, Board of Education President Jeffrey Hastie sent an email to the community, which was posted on Facebook as well.

Hastie said a candidate for the position had been agreed upon but "unfortunately [we] were unable to reach an acceptable contractual agreement with that candidate."

He said the board has identified other qualified candidates and the interview process is continuing.

"While the goal was to have a new superintendent announced by May, it is of utmost importance that we exercise appropriate due diligence and select the right person for the job," Hastie said.

"We recognize that we must remain fiscally responsible while making this critical decision," he said.
