Teacher With Star Power In Norwegian Cruise Line 'Giving Joy' Contest

If Anthony Stirpe wins, the Theatreworks Program will also win a substantial cash prize of up to $25,000.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY— A New Rochelle High School teacher who helped shine an international spotlight on the school's drama program is eligible for a little R&R and he could use a lift to the airport.

And a lift for Mr. Stirpe might just be a good thing for the whole community.

The City School District of New Rochelle is asking the community to help support New Rochelle High School art teacher Anthony Stirpe, who is a candidate in Norwegian Cruise Line's "Giving Joy" contest. The district described Stirpe as "well-known as an innovative teacher, and a tech-savvy mentor who champions his students every day!" If he wins, the school's Theatreworks Program will win a substantial cash prize of up to $25,000.

Norwegian Cruise Line says that in recognition of the "unwavering dedication teachers showcase to their students and for their commitment to bringing joy to the classroom," they will be rewarding 100 teachers across the U.S. and Canada with a voyage aboard their newest groundbreaking ship, Norwegian Prima. The top three Grand Prize winners will be awarded an additional seven-night cruise for two and $25,000, $15,000 or $10,000 prizes for their schools.
