NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Sound will be filled with music again this summer with free outdoor concerts on the Long Island Sound shore as well as in the heart of downtown New Rochelle.

This year, the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA) will be presenting its annual summer concert series at two locations, both in the historic Hudson Park bandshell and in a new spot in New Ro Parc, located at 455 Main St. between North Ave. and LeCount Pl. Both locations will have great bands playing and food trucks with delicious offerings.

The Summer Sounds Concert Series will kick off its 15th season on Wednesday, July 6 with the R & B music of Billy and The Showmen. An eclectic lineup of musicians is scheduled for the entire summer with everything from Top 40 hits to jazz, country hits, classical opera, Latin, rockabilly, funk, soul and "yacht rock." Music lovers will get to hear live music at Hudson Park on nine consecutive Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. and eight Fridays at 7:30 p.m. in New Ro Parc.

“Attendance at last summer’s concerts were off the charts, so we couldn’t be more excited to be back at Hudson Park, and to help activate a new downtown space at New Ro Parc,” says Theresa Kump Leghorn, President of the NRCA.

The NRCA will also be presenting an evening of free Shakespeare at Hudson Park with the Irvington Shakespeare Company's production of Love's Labor Lost on Sunday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m.

The Hudson Park Children's Greenhouse will again offer free yoga in the park every Wednesday before the concerts. Instructor Angela Derecas Taylor will offer a free class for people of all abilities from 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.

The Summer Sounds concert series is presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, in partnership with the New Rochelle Dept. of Parks and Recreation, and co-sponsored by Webster Bank, and LMXD (the mixed-income development affiliate of L+M Development Partners) and Wilder Balter Partners.

Vin Paresi, Commissioner of New Rochelle’s Dept. of Parks & Recreation, says the city is proud to continue the summer concert tradition. “We’re so grateful for the continued support of Webster Bank, which has made it possible for us to continue bringing these wonderful free concerts to the community.”
