People magazine and Zagat national restaurant reviews took into consideration iconic dishes.

NEW YORK, NY — If you think of places to eat in New York, more than likely deli food will come up as a suggestion. So it’s no surprise which restaurant topped the list of “Your Favorite Restaurants in Every State,” a survey People magazine and Zagat national restaurant reviews recently released.
Out of all the myriad places to eat in the Empire State, the survey singled out Katz’s Delicatessen in New York City as the most popular restaurant in the state. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

They said they paid special attention to sourcing of local ingredients and serving of iconic foods.
That would certainly make Katz’s Deli, which dates back to 1888, a prime contender for a favorite restaurant based on two words: pastrami sandwich.

According to Katz’s website, the pastrami, as well as its corned beef, is cured using a slow method without injecting chemicals, water or additives.
The finished product can take up to 30 days to cure, while commercially prepared meats are cured in 36 hours.
Don’t despair if you can’t get down to the Lower East Side in Manhattan to satisfy your pastrami sandwich craving. Katz’s ships nationwide.
