Nor'easter Could Cause Coastal Flooding On LI Sound Shore: NWS
Breaking: If the threat of snow and gale force winds isn't enough, forecasters say coastal flooding is likely Saturday morning as well.
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — As a powerful Nor'easter barrels in our direction, the National Weather Service has also issued a Coastal Flood Statement for southern Westchester County for Saturday morning.
The NWS said there could be tidal departures of up to a half-foot above ground level. The areas vulnerable to flooding are expected to be limited to land near the shoreline.
Minor coastal flooding could affect some roads and low-lying properties, including parking lots around the times of high tide on Jan. 29.

The highest risk of flooding will be possible around the times of high tide before noon.
Forecasters say brief minor flooding of the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline is possible once again with the Sunday morning high tide.

The NWS said that the majority of roads will remain passable with only isolated closures and that there is no significant threat to life, but travelers in the affected areas are advised to allow extra time to reach their destinations. Motorists are warned not to drive around barricades or through any water on the roadway of unknown depth.
Homeowners and businesses should take measures to protect flood-prone property.
