Norman Rockwell's Birthday Celebrated In New Rochelle
The party will feature the return to the library of one of the illustrator's famous paintings.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Public Library will celebrate illustrator and one-time New Rochelle resident Norman Rockwell’s birthday with a party and the return of “The Land of Enchantment,” painting he gave to the city and was displayed in the library’s children’s room until it was removed for conservation treatment.
At 3 p.m. Feb. 3, the freshened-up painting will be unveiled and remarks will be given.
From 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., there will be birthday cake and a conversation with one of Rockwell’s favorite models when she was a young girl in the 1950s.

Mary Whalen will speak about her unique friendship with the American artist.
Also, author Will Lach will introduce his book “A Day in the Life of a Girl,” which was illustrated with Rockwell’s iconic images of Whalen and her life.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
