NYPD Releases Video Of LI Sound Helicopter Rescue In New Rochelle
A man was rescued from a sinking boat early this morning near Davids Island after rescue swimmers deployed from a police helicopter.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A boater in New Rochelle survived a harrowing experience on the Long Island Sound this morning, thanks in part to the U.S. Coast Guard and NYPD Special Ops rescue swimmers.
Early this morning, NYPD Special Ops rescued a man from a sinking boat in the waters of the Sound near Davids Island in New Rochelle. Rescue swimmers were dropped from an NYPD helicopter.
The rescuers made contact with the boater, who was uninjured. He was transferred to a nearby U.S. Coast Guard Boat and then taken safely to dry land, according to the NYPD.
