One-Man Crime Spree: 2 Robberies And A Burglary, Suspect In Custody

A woman whose home was invaded was able to keep the intruder calm while secretly messaging a neighbor to call the police, cops said.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — On Thursday, shortly before 4 p.m., the New Rochelle Police Department received a report that a woman had been stabbed and beaten inside a store at Main St. and Webster Ave.

Nearly as soon as they arrived on the scene, police received another call of a strong-arm robbery nearby on Woodland Ave., just off Main Street.

Police responding to the second scene saw the suspect fleeing the area and a foot chase through backyards then took place throughout the Residence Park neighborhood on the south side of New Rochelle.

Detectives searching the area found the suspect inside a home on Laurel Place. The suspect then attempted to flee and was Tasered and placed under arrest.

While attempting to evade police, the suspect then broke into a home on Laurel Place that was occupied by a woman and her two young children. The woman was able to keep him calm while secretly messaging a neighbor to call the police, leading to his capture.

The initial victim from 683 Main Street was taken to a local hospital where she was listed as being in serious, but stable condition.

Michael Bagley, 32, of Corham (Suffolk County) was charged with felony robbery 1st degree, felony robbery 3rd degree, felony assault 2nd degree, felony, unlawful imprisonment 1st degree, felony burglary 2nd degree, and felony criminal mischief 3rd degree.
