YONKERS, NY — This is why we can't have nice things. Police say they are investigating widespread damage to a Hudson Valley park over the long weekend.

The Yonkers Police Department is searching for the culprits behind what is being termed "an incident of felony criminal mischief" to Redmond Park. Trespassers apparently tore up the field with ATVs and dirt-bikes.

The park has been undergoing renovations for the past year as part of a plan to prioritize investment in green spaces for neighborhoods. Officials said the troubling incident may delay the re-opening of the park, initially scheduled for this summer.
