Parking App Pilot Program Launched in New Rochelle
People who park in some downtown areas can extend parking time via their cell phones.

Good news if you want to park downtown in New Rochelle. You don’t need to keep a pocketful of quarters now.
On Jan. 11, The Queen City on the Sound launched a pay-by-phone pilot for parking meters on Main Street between Centre and North avenues.
Drivers now have the option of paying by cell phone using the free ParkMobile app.

Time can be extended remotely, and the app can even send a notification before the meter expires.
Deputy Commissioner Paul Vacca said the parking app is another way the city is trying to improve the downtown parking experience, adding drivers can now choose between using cash, a credit card or the app.

“The technology is there,” he said, “and we are putting it to work.”
