Patience Pays Off, New Rochelle PD Nabs Car Theft Suspect On Main St.
Police quietly waited for their man to return to the parked car that had earlier been reported stolen before making themselves known.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police once again proved that the city isn't a great place for a pit stop for those who are up to no good.
On Saturday, shortly after 8:30 a.m., the New Rochelle Police Department was alerted of a stolen auto entering the city from I-95. Patrol units canvassed the area and the vehicle was found, parked and unoccupied in front of 572 Main Street. Officers said they were able to discretely approach the vehicle and verify its status as stolen without drawing the attention of a possible suspect.
Police noted that the VIN number that was displayed on the dashboard was different from a VIN number located on another part of the car. Officers staked out the vehicle until the suspect returned, at which point he was taken into custody.
