The Poet's Corner Welcomes Back Guitarist Extraordinaire Lou Volpe

The Poet’s Corner welcomes back guitarist and recording artist Lou Volpe, in concert on Saturday, April 11, at 7 p.m. “Awaken Spring, Live with Lou Volpe” will be held at The Poet’s Corner, 570 Main Street, New Rochelle. Admission is $25 and reservations are available by calling 914.235.4551. Lou will introduce his soon-to-be released album, “Remembering Ol’ Blue Eyes,” which contains popular and enduring Frank Sinatra tunes, and he will also play from his other three CDs.

Chosen by Yamaha Guitars to be the “Clinic/Performing Yamaha Artist” for the U.S.A., Lou is a standard not only on the New York music scene, but is also recognized internationally as a master of the guitar. His resume reads like a “who’s who” of masters in the music entertainment industry.

He has toured extensively with Bette Midler, Judy Collins, and the legendary Herbie Mann. Other performance and recording credits include such diverse artists as Peggy Lee, Chaka Khan, Bo Diddley, David “Fathead” Newman, Chet Baker, Liza Minnelli, Lionel Hampton, Roberta Flack, Phoebe Snow, and The Manhattan Transfer, to name a few. He has performed at Lincoln Center with Herbie Hancock and as a solo artist at the Montreal Jazz Festival. His yearly group concert at the Gillespie Theater in NYC is filmed and shown on cable TV.

His artistry combines elegance, fire, and soul with a seductive, lyrical sound. “The guitar and he merge into a oneness that’s almost celestial,” says Guru Madeleine, founder of The Poet’s Corner. “There’s this incredible infectious joy in him as he plays, and it touches anyone who hears him.”
