Police Looking For Suspect In Foiled Armed Mugging Near Hudson Park

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery in a bustling New Rochelle shoreside neighborhood.

On Wednesday, around 7 p.m., New Rochelle police responded to a report of an attempted mugging in the 100 block of Franklin Avenue.

The victim, a 66-year-old woman, reported that a man approached her on foot, displayed a silver handgun, and demanded her belongings. In response, the victim began to scream, causing the would-be mugger to flee.

The suspect, described only as a "Hispanic male," was last seen running into the Harbor House property, where the victim lost sight of him.

The victim was not injured and kept her belongings. Officers canvassed the area, but did not find the suspect.

According to New Rochelle police officials, detectives have been assigned to the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
