To Pratt Knot And Serve: WCPD To The Rescue Before Formal Affair
Prom safety checkpoints could very well save lives, but at one of these inspections, an officer found an unusual way to protect and serve.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The Westchester County Police have been busy in recent weeks making sure that prom season is safe, but one officer, temporarily acting in the role of fashion police, helped make a New Rochelle student prom red carpet-worthy.
Patrol officers and Westchester County Taxi & Limousine Commission staff have been confiscating alcohol and other prohibited items during Prom Safety details this season around Westchester. The officers have been making sure that the limos carrying kids to the big night weren't also a safe haven for underage drinking.

TLC staff and officers in the TLC Enforcement Unit have also been inspecting the vehicles that students are riding in to be sure that they are roadworthy and drivers are properly licensed.

Prom Safety details are done in conjunction with the WCPD’s Office of Drug Prevention and STOP-DWI and in partnership with school districts across Westchester County. The safety checkpoints, that could very well save lives will continue through June, but at one of these inspections, an officer found another way to protect and serve.
"A young man headed to a graduation event in New Rochelle was fortunate to come upon one of our Prom Safety details Thursday evening," WCPD said of the serendipitous encounter. "He was running a little late and stressed because he couldn't quite seem to get his tie on right. He jumped out of his car and asked for help. Fortunately, Officer Chris Guziczek had the skills, and stepped up to help him out! Job well done Chris!"
