Pregnant Woman Stabbed In Abdomen At New Rochelle Home

The New Rochelle victim was treated and released from the hospital and an acquaintance of the victim has been arrested for felony assault.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police say a pregnant woman is recovering from two minor stab wounds in her abdomen during an assault by an acquaintance.

On Tuesday, shortly before 4 p.m., New Rochelle police received a call about a dispute that led to a stabbing at a home on Lafayette Avenue in the West End of the city. Officers found a pregnant victim suffering from two "minor stab wounds to her abdomen."

The suspect had already fled the scene, according to police. The victim was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and was released soon after. New Rochelle police canvassed the area and found the suspect, later identified as Naisanagelly Sanchez, at the end of Union Avenue, near the intersection with 9th Street. The 19-year-old New Rochelle resident was taken into custody and is charged with felony assault.
