Recreation, Trash Collection Changes In New Rochelle

The beach and pool are closing for the summer.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Where did the summer go? With the unofficial change of seasons, New Rochelle city officials have announced some changes for recreation and garbage collection. In observance of Labor Day, city offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4. The Department Parks and Recreation said that this is the last weekend to enjoy summer swimming. Hudson Park Beach and Lincoln Park Pool will officially be closed after Labor Day.

Hudson Park facilities will remain open on the weekends until Columbus Day. For more information, visit the Parks and Recreation Department website or call 914-654-2087.

The Department of Public Works will resume their regular collection time of 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11. The week of Sept. 4 follows a holiday pickup schedule:

  • Tuesday: Garbage & Trash North
  • Wednesday: Garbage & Trash, South
  • Thursday: Garbage & Commingled, North
  • Friday: Garbage & Commingled, South

Please refer to Department of Public Work’s calendar and website for the full collection schedule and further information. Yard waste collection will continue through the end of October, so please put all brush and branches curbside before then. Fall leaf collection begins Oct. 10.
