Refurbished Basketball Courts Reopen In New Rochelle
The project was funded by city funds and a grant from the National Basketball Players Association Foundation.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The basketball courts at Lincoln Park in New Rochelle officially reopened Tuesday, Oct. 9 displaying a new surface with a vibrant, eye-catching design. The project was a collaboration by the City of New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department, the New Rochelle Basketball Association and Project Backboard.
It was funded through the city's Capital Improvements Project budget, along with a grant from the National Basketball Players Association Foundation.
Mahopac-based Oval Tennis refurbished and striped the court, with artist Scott Albrecht creating the design.

This is the second major rehabilitation initiative for Lincoln Park.
In June, the playground was reopened after a capital improvement project totaling nearly $800,000 facilitated new playground equipment, safety surfacing and landscaping.
Future master plan project phases include a multi-purpose athletic field upgrade and a parking lot reconfiguration plan.
In late September, the city received a state $10 million Downtown Rehabilitation Grant that will further invigorate the Lincoln Avenue area.
