Residential Parking Permits & Tickets

Residents Beware! Tickets being issued for parking in front of your house!

If you live on one of the streets near the Mamaroneck Train Station that now requires a parking permit to park in front of your own house, make sure your permit is current or risk getting a parking ticket. I learned the hard way when I received a $25 because my permit expired on March 31, apparently when all of the permits expired. But since the expiration date is on the front of the permit that faces the windshield, I suspect that most other permit holders don't realize this. According to the village office that issues the parking permits, I'm not the first one to have gotten a ticket or to file a complaint. It seems like my only recourse is to spend several hours in Village Traffic Court to argue my case.

I was also told by a Village official that it would be too much work to notify all residents required to have parking permits when the permits are up for renewal. But if New York State can remind millions of car owners about automobile registration renewals in advance, why can't the small Village of Mamaroneck, "the Friendly Village", do the same for a few fundred residents?
