YONKERS, NY — Rihanna has plans to shine the spotlight of the fashion and entertainment worlds on the Hudson Valley in a big way.

Savage X Fenty, the billionaire pop star/actress/designer's lingerie label, is slated to open in 2023 at the Cross County Center in Yonkers, Marx Realty announced.

Construction on the 3,300-square-foot store is underway, in the space previously occupied by New York & Company.

Savage X Fenty signed a 10-year lease with rent for the retail space at $225 per square foot. The company was represented in-house for the lease at the shopping center owned by Marx Realty and Benenson Capital Partners.

The Yonkers store stands to be Savage X Fenty's latest location amid its nationwide expansion — the brand launched exclusively online in 2018, but Rihanna announced plans to open a handful of brick-and-mortar stores this year.

"2022, we coming in HOT! we bout to bring you a whole new #SavageXFenty experience with the launch of our brick-and-mortar retail stores!" she tweeted in January.

Savage X Fenty's first brick-and-mortar stores opened in a Las Vegas mall and in a Culver City mall earlier this year. Other locations currently include Houston, King of Prussia, PA, and Arlington, VA. The company also recently signed a 10-year lease for a three-story, 6,100-square-foot property in Brooklyn that will be the store's first location in NYC, as well as its biggest and only freestanding location outside of a mall so far.

"Our expectation is you won't be able to walk past these stores and not go in, even if you're not in the market for lingerie," Savage X Fenty's co-president and chief marketing officer, Natalie Guzman, said in a statement earlier this year.

Savage X Fenty says that it "embodies fearlessness, confidence, and inclusivity." The company has built a reputation with the promise of accessible price points, a variety of styles made for everybody and celebrating individuality.

"We want to make people look good and feel good," explained Rihanna in a statement. "We want you to feel sexy and have fun doing it."

The company sells everything from everyday essentials, men’s underwear and sleepwear, to elevated loungewear and more provocative pieces — Savage X Fenty says it "has something for every mood, every vibe and everyBODY." The company offers bra sizes ranging from 30–46 in bands and A–H in cups (up to 46DDD/42H), and underwear, sleepwear and loungewear ranging from XS–4X/XS–XXXXL.

"The Savage X Fenty brand has disrupted the lingerie sector and we are excited that Cross County Center has been selected for the company’s flagship location in New York," Marx Realty CEO Craig Deitelzweig said in a statement. "The brand adds a fresh pop-culture vibe to the center, which is already brimming with well-known brands and boasts a lifestyle experience like none other. This is one of a small handful of brick-and-mortar locations for Savage X Fenty and the fact that the team chose Cross County Center speaks volumes about the Center’s strong appeal for well-known, celebrated brands."

Jointly owned by Marx Realty and Benenson Capital Partners, the 1.15 million-square-foot Cross County Center was the first open-air center in the U.S. when it opened in 1954. Marx Realty took over the management in 2019 and undertook an intensive re-leasing of the center.

"We strive to bring a one-of-a-kind experience to the region via our efforts to give tenants and visitors a diverse mix of retail, dining and entertainment options," Benenson Capital executive Jim Stifel said. "As we look ahead to the next evolution of the Cross County Center experience, it continues to dominate as one of the nation’s premiere mixed-use centers, attracting a wide variety of best-in-class retail, restaurant and office users and we’re thrilled to welcome Savage X Fenty to the mix."
