Shelia Marcotte Declares Victory In District 10
Winning by only 39 votes, Republican Marcotte will keep her seat on the Westchester County Board of Legislators, narrowly beating out former Democratic Tuckahoe Mayor John Fitzpatrick.

Republican incumbent Shelia Marcotte will be representing District 10, which covers Eastchester, Tuckahoe and parts of New Rochelle for the next two years.
Marcotte declared victory after results from jammed voting machines in 19 out of the 64 voting districts rendered the tallies incomplete and after a county-wide impound was lifted earlier in the week. Election officials were able to resume the counting of absentee ballots and the re-counting of the faulty machines.
In a statement released on her Web site sheliamarcotte.com, she wrote:

There are so many people to thank, but first and foremost, many thanks to all of you who participated in the process and voted on Nov. 8, 2011. With all districts now reported along with affidavits, emergency ballots and absentees—the Westchester County Board of Elections has unofficially declared me the winner by just 39 votes! I am humbled by the overwhelming support that I have received over the past five months and I look forward to continuing to serve as your Legislator for the next two years!
Marcotte said that now her attention will turn to the County budget, which has "over $100 million in cuts and a fair amount of lay-offs in the proposed plan."
