'Snow Day' Means An Extra Long Weekend For New Rochelle Students
What's better than a three-day-weekend? A four-day-weekend and teachers and students have a mild winter to thank for it.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The holiday weekend will get an early start for students and teachers, thanks to an historic snow drought on the Sound Shore.
It will be mild and sunny on Friday, but the schools are having a snow day in May — sort of. All City School District of New Rochelle schools are closed tomorrow.
May 26 was a designated weather make-up day in the school calendar, but because the district did not need to take an additional snow day this school year, it will be a day off for students and teachers. However, the school district will still have the New York State-required number of days in session.

No doubt an unexpected day off from school would have been handy in December, but a rare chance to spend a snow day at the beach is even sweeter.
