Snow, Freezing Rain: NWS Issues Urgent Winter Weather Advisory
After a winter blast on Friday, more hazardous weather is on the way for the Hudson Valley on Sunday. Here's what to expect.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY —After a week of dangerous road conditions this season, the National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories for most of the region on Sunday.
The winter weather advisory is in effect for most of the Hudson Valley on Sunday, with the forecast calling for freezing rain. Icing will be possible, resulting in slippery roadways and hazardous travel conditions, according to the NWS.
The greatest chance for icy conditions is expected between 7 a.m. and noon for a large swath of the Hudson Valley, including Rockland County and Westchester County on Sunday morning. In Orange and Putnam Counties, the winter weather advisory currently remains in effect until 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

In an "urgent winter weather message," the National Weather Service in New York predicted freezing rain accumulating in a light glaze, potentially making travel dangerous. In Northern areas of the Hudson Valley, including Ulster and Dutchess counties, up to an inch of snow and sleet is also possible, starting from 5 a.m. The threat of snow and sleet will continue until 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are possible. Hudson Valley residents are being urged to slow down and use caution while traveling. Homeowners should begin to prepare for possible power outages now. The NYSDOT will have the latest information on local road condition road conditions as snow and freezing rain arrive.
