Sound Shore Graduates Medical Residents

Sound Shore Medical Center applauds its Department of Medicine Residency Program and Transitional Year graduates.  Thirteen senior residents received diplomas, along with four transitional year and five preliminary year interns. The graduation ceremony was held recently at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.

"Sound Shore Medical Center has been actively engaged in medical teaching since 1957 and is pleased to graduate another class of well-prepared physicians and interns,” said Stephen Jesmajian, MD, Sound Shore's Director of Medicine in a release.   

Before more than 150 administrators, faculty, physicians and guests, Dr. Jesmajian presented diplomas and awards.

 Among those receiving special recognitions were:

  • Outstanding Intern of the Year - Julia Dry, MD
  • Robert Yarrish, MD Memorial Outstanding Resident of the Year - Grettel Tesado, MD
  • Rameschandra Shukla, MD Memorial Humanitarian Award - Julia Dry, MD
  • Cardiology Award – ECG Interpretations - Alexis Ferguson, MD
  • Dermatology Award - Vinita Singh, MD
  • William Winters, MD Memorial Primary Care Award - Jennifer Poste, MD

The Robert D. Brandstetter, MD Memorial Teaching Award was presented to Sound Shore Medical Center physician, Joseph Casino MD.  In addition, outgoing Co-chief Residents, Drs. Bubu Ama Banini and Diana Dela Cruz DeJesus, received Thank You plaques from the Department of Medicine for their outstanding service.

Four of the Resident graduates have been accepted into premiere fellowship programs at Dartmouth University Hospital, Parkview Regional Medical Center in Indiana and two at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. Another is transitioning into a primary care position in Maine and four have accepted positions as hospitalists in four different states. Of the remaining graduates and Drs. Marie Louies Lamsen and Resmi Premji, have been selected as Co-chief Residents for the 2013-2014 academic year.
