Sound Shore Medical Center Expands Its Electronic Library
More than 100 hospitals including Sound Shore Medical Center share access to a database of medical research.

Sound Shore Medical System is extending its reach and improving its care by joining a consortium of more than 100 hospitals sharing medical research and information.
In a press release from the library was touted as a beneficial upgrade: “Sound Shore Hospital System’s library now provides electronic access to the latest medical information anywhere and anytime it’s needed. Leading edge technology at cost-effective prices is the future, and the future is now at Sound Shore Health System.”
The medical facility announced this week it has joined the Health Science Library Association of New Jersey (HSLANJ) non-profit consortium. The move will compound the Sound Shore Medical System library and their medical professionals, students and patients will gain access to a large digital database of medical research, journals and databases.

Hospital spokesperson Trish Feathers said that in addition to medical staff, patients also have access to the system library. Because it is digital, the database has the additional benefit of expanding access to knowledge without requiring physical storage or additional staff support.
Sound Shore Medical System includes Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle as well as Mount Vernon Hospital, Dorothea Hopfer School of Nursing and Schaffer Extended Care Center.
