South Carolina Man Accused Of Having Illegal Gun, Ammo

The New Rochelle Police Department said the man was wanted in Yonkers for harassment.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A South Carolina man with an active arrest warrant was taken into custody in New Rochelle.

The New Rochelle Police Department said, shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, information was received about a person with an active arrest warrant getting into a car at the intersection of North and Lockwood avenues.

Police stopped the vehicle in the 200 block of North Avenue.

The driver was Jamaal Solaam Anderson, 39, of Eutawville, South Carolina, police said.

It was determined he had an active warrant out of Yonkers for harassment and was arrested.

Police said a search of the vehicle found a loaded Glock .40 caliber handgun with an additional loaded magazine and 30 loose rounds.

Anderson was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices, a misdemeanor, and police officer execute warrant of arrest.
