Suspect In Rape Of Juvenile Arrested After Trying To Flee, Resisting Arrest: Sheriff

BREWSTER, NY — An accused rapist is now behind bars after a desperate attempt to evade justice, according to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Christian Alexis Lopez Gregorio, 21, of Brewster, was arrested following an investigation into the sexual assault of a juvenile victim, Sheriff Brian Hess said.

On March 27, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office received a report detailing a past sexual assault involving a juvenile girl.

After an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, members of the Sheriff's Office located and arrested Lopez Gregorio on Apr. 3.

During the arrest, Lopez Gregorio attempted to flee on foot and resisted arrest before being taken into custody, according to the sheriff.

Lopez Gregorio has been charged with two counts of first-degree rape (forcible compulsion) and resisting arrest.

He was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court for the Village of Brewster.

Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond, and Lopez Gregorio was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility, according to authorities.
