Tip About Possible Drug Deal Leads To Gun Arrests

The call about a "large drug transaction" about to go down led to a gun arrest and the seizure of a loaded weapon with 12 rounds of ammo.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Detectives staking out a possible drug deal recovered a loaded handgun and a replica firearm, according to officials.

On Saturday evening, New Rochelle police received a tip that a large drug deal was about to take place in a vehicle on John Street and that the suspects were armed with handguns.

New Rochelle detectives soon spotted the vehicle fitting the description given by the caller.

The vehicle was occupied by 3 men, according to police. The detectives reportedly approached the vehicle and saw a handgun and an imitation-style pistol plainly visible in the vehicle, investigators said.

The potentially fraught situation was defused quickly when the passengers in the car complied with directions from police on the scene and were removed from the vehicle. Police report that all three men were arrested, including 36-year-old Fidel D. Rodriguez-Reynoso from the Bronx, 29-year-old Arnaldo J. Rivera-Rodriguez of Camden, New Jersey and 32-year-old Raul Eduardo Rivera, also from Camden.
