Tropical Storm Watch Issued for Southern Westchester County
Storm surges and high winds are possible from Tropical Storm Hermine.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for southern Westchester effective immediately.
A tropical storm watch means that tropical storm wind conditions are possible in this area within the next 48 hours, which is into Sunday.
The latest local forecast calls for below-tropical storm force winds of 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Rain in the amount of 1 inch is possible.
Tropical Storm Hermine is forecast to move northeast off the mid-Atlantic coast and then slow down or possibly stall off the coast later Sunday into Monday.

The NWS said the current threat to life and property winds is “elevated,” and preparations should be made to avoid injury from wind.
There is a “reasonable threat” for tropical storm force winds of 39 mph to 57 mph.
The potential for 1 to 3 feet storm surge above ground in areas that are prone to surges beginning Saturday evening.
