Two Blue Angels Named To 2015 All-HVIAC Softball Team

Two members of The College of New Rochelle softball team have been recognized with All-HVIAC status.

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) has announced its 2015 All-HVIAC Softball team and two members of The College of New Rochelle have been recognized, with rookies Kevona Jackson and Lyndsey Edwards receiving this honor.

Jackson was the top offensive for the Blue Angels and ranked among the conference leaders in triples and home runs, leading CNR in both categories. She also paced the Blue Angels in batting average, runs scored, runs batted in, slugging percentage, on base percentage and stolen bases. Playing primarily at first base, but seeing time at each of the infield positions, Jackson reached base safely in 17 of the 21 games she played in, and posted a five game hitting streak in the middle of the season. During that streak, she belted a grand slam that nearly led to an upset win over eventual HVIAC Champion St. Joseph’s College-Brooklyn.

Edwards, who covered the second base position for CNR, was a steady glove for the Blue Angels, leading the team in fielding percentage while recording 38 putouts and 26 assists. At the plate, she led the team in hits and at bats and was second in runs scored, runs batted in and stolen bases. Her best game at the plate came at Pine Manor College, where we went 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Edwards also made four appearances in the circle, recording two complete games while tallying eight strikeouts and the second best earned run average on the team.
