Ursuline Cheerleading Champs Earn A 'High V' From Elected Officials

The team received an official proclamation in honor of their accomplishments this season from the New Rochelle City Council.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Even champions can benefit from someone cheering them on. In this case, the Ursuline School's Cheerleading Team National Champions were presented a proclamation by the New Rochelle City Council.

On Tuesday evening, the Varsity Cheerleading team was honored by the city council in recognition of their undefeated Game Day season. The presentation was given at New Rochelle City Hall by Mayor Noam Bramson.

The National High School Cheerleading Championship was held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at The Walt Disney World Resort on February 11-13. The Varsity Game Day team won the Large Varsity Non-Tumbling Division while the Varsity Traditional Cheerleading Team won the Small Varsity Non-Tumbling World School Cheerleading Championship. Both teams earned the coveted white jackets signifying “champion.”

The teams also performed among the top squads at the section 1 championships and regional championships.

The varsity cheerleaders, coach Adriana Lacarbonara, Head Game Day Coach Karissa Vargas and Assistant Coach John Braca were singled out for accolades by city officials.
