Video: Iona Prep 4th Graders Debate Renewable vs. Nonrenewable Energy
Ms. Melillo's students conducted research, recorded notes and evaluated professional websites.
Students from Kristin Melillo’s fourth grade class at at Iona Preparatory Lower School in New Rochelle recently held a debate on renewable vs. nonrenewable energy.
School officials said, “The result was an energetic back-and-forth between young leaders on a timely issue for our world.” The fourth graders were mentored by seventh graders.
Ms. Melillo’s students conducted research, recorded notes and evaluated professional websites, and they “collaborated to paraphrase research data and document their own thoughts in Opening Statements, Rebuttal Statements and Closing Arguments.”
