VOLUNTEER NEW YORK! HONORED AS 2014 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT

On November 5th, 2014, Volunteer New York! announced that it has again been honored with a prestigious 2014 Top-Rated Nonprofit Award by GreatNonprofits.org, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

“We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2014 Nonprofit. We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including another successful year for our 9/11 community action day that helped launch the Westchester County Diaper Bankwith the Junior League of Central Westchester,” said board chair Mark Rollins. The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that Volunteer New York! received – reviews written by volunteers, agencies and program participants. For example, one volunteer wrote, “Volunteer New York! is THE volunteer matching, training and advocacy organization in Westchester County and beyond. I have used Volunteer New York!’’s website to find volunteers for my organization and to find volunteer opportunities for our members.”

While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, Volunteer New York! was part of the inaugural group to qualify for the year. In addition, the organization will be added to GreatNonprofit’s #GivingTuesday Guide—an interactive guide to top nonprofits throughout the year that will be released prior to the holiday season.

In addition to being named a Top-Rated Nonprofit, Volunteer New York! was recently made the official provider for volunteer opportunities in the Journal News #lohudcares online database (data.lohud.com/lohudcares). This database, created in conjunction with Nonprofit Westchester, includes over 100 local nonprofits in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam and will be featured prominently in advance of December 2, 2014, or what is known as the nationally recognized day of giving, #GivingTuesday.
