Volunteer Opportunities: Reading, Food Pantry, Puppies
There are a few opportunities to volunteer in your community to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. all year.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The day set aside to honor Martin Luther King Jr. is the third Monday of January. It is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to "encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities," according to the Corporation for National and Community Service website.
Dr. King said that "Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve."
While it may be too late to find a volunteer opportunity for the King holiday, it's not too late to find something for which you can volunteer in the near future that could make a difference.
