Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Back to School Essentials Giveaway Helpers

Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week, we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

Back to School Essentials Giveaway
Volunteers are needed to assist with HOPE Community Services Back-to-School Essentials Giveaway program. Volunteers will be sorting children's clothing and shoes, setting up for the giveaway event, and distributing the items. Perfect for teens!
Date: 8/11 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 8/16 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

English-Spanish Translators
Bilingual Volunteer Translators (English-Spanish) are needed to assist the Westchester Land Trust during a Zoom meeting with community members who received fabric grow bags containing fresh vegetables. Translators will answer questions relating to their experience with the grow bags and how people are harvesting and using their vegetables. Volunteers do not need to be an expert on this information—all messaging and education will be provided beforehand.

Painting at Muscoot Farm
Volunteers are needed to help paint the barns at Muscoot Farm. Paint and tools will be provided, but volunteers should bring their own water. Volunteers should wear clothes that can get dirty. This is a perfect project for young teens, families, and large groups.

Farmers Market Volunteers
Greenburgh Farmers Market is seeking volunteers to help with its market on alternating Saturdays. Volunteer activities include setting up and breaking down tents, displaying produce on tables, and assisting vendors. Volunteers should be able to lift 10-50 pounds; lift, bend, and stand for long periods of time; and wear weather-appropriate clothes. The Farmers Market is held rain or shine.
