Warm Winter Clothes Collection For New Rochelle Teens
As part of the Martin Luther King Jr Day of Service, the Sharing Shelf is collecting new cold weather clothing for teenagers in need.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr famously said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" The City of New Rochelle and the Sharing Shelf are giving us a perfect opportunity to answer this question in the coming weeks.
In the spirit of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, donations of new winter clothing in adult sizes are now being collected at four drop boxes in the area to help New Rochelle teens stay warm this winter.
Winter-appropriate clothing is a basic necessity, but for many children in Westchester, it is a luxury their families struggle to provide, organizers said. Over 60,000 Westchester children live in low-income homes, with 36 percent of public school children qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. For these children, winter clothing can be financially out of reach, according to officials.
