WEATHER UPDATE: 'Torrential Rainfall' Hits Hudson Valley

The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement Sunday afternoon for Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties.

The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement Sunday afternoon and evening for Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties, as “torrential rainfall” tears through the region.

Strong winds and hail will hit some communities in the region, many of which the NWS listed by name below. Earlier, the service issued a Severe Weather Statement for northern Westchester County, but cancelled that because the storm had weakened and was no longer severe.

WINDS UP TO 40 MPH AND NICKEL SIZE HAIL ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... YONKERS...STAMFORD...NEW ROCHELLE...WHITE PLAINS...HACKENSACK...PORT CHESTER...BERGENFIELD...OSSINING...RYE...HAVERSTRAW...TARRYTOWN... MOUNT KISCO...DOBBS FERRY...NYACK...NANUET...NEW CITY...NORTH TARRYTOWN...TAPPAN...MAHOPAC AND HARRISON.

TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IS ALSO OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM...AND MAY CAUSE LOCALIZED FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE THROUGH FLOODED ROADWAYS.
