Westchester Opens Beaches Due To Extreme Heat

The Playland Pool and Croton Point Beach will remain closed until regular hours of operation.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — With high humidity and temperatures forecasted to exceed 90 degrees in Westchester County through Tuesday, Aug. 7, the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation has opened up County beaches to help County residents cope with the heat.

Both Glen Island beach in New Rochelle and Playland beach in Rye will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The beaches are normally closed on Tuesdays.

The Playland Pool and Croton Point Beach will remain closed until regular hours of operation on Wednesday, Aug. 8.

Glen Island Beach is located on Weyman Avenue in New Rochelle. Playland Beach is located at Playland Park in Rye at One Playland Parkway.
