Westchester PD, Nassau Marine Units Rescue 4 From LI Sound
Police say a distress call went out around 1 p.m. on Sunday after an 18-foot-long sailboat capsized with boaters in the water.

LONG ISLAND SOUND, NY — The Westchester County Police Department Marine Unit and the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau Unit worked together this past weekend to rescue four people after their boat had capsized.
Police say a distress call went out around 1 p.m. on Sunday after an 18-foot-long sailboat capsized. Upon arriving in the area, officers aboard WCPD Marine 345 saw four people in the water, one of whom did not have a personal flotation device on.
WCPD Marine officers rescued two of the people while members of Nassau County Police Department Marine 7 rescued the other two. No one was injured in the incident and the rescued people were brought back to shore.

The sailboat was then secured and towed by the Town of North Hemsptead bay constables.
"Nice teamwork by all agencies in this search and rescue mission," Westchester County Police said in a statement posted to social media.
