Winter Weather Advisory: Snow Will Make Morning Commute Rough

Breaking: Parts of the region, including S. Westchester, could see significant snow accumulation beginning at 5 a.m., according to the NWS.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Much of Westchester County will be under a winter weather advisory starting at 5 a.m. on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

Winter weather advisories have been issued for southern Westchester County, New York City, Long Island, and portions of northeast New Jersey from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. A cold front will move through tonight, allowing colder air to change any rain to snow in the affected areas.

Much of the snow will fall during the Thursday morning commute, according to the forecast. Snowfall totals will range from 1 inch to 3 inches of accumulation.

Slippery and hazardous road conditions are expected throughout the morning. The NWS is urging motorists to slow down and use caution while traveling.
