Women's History comes alive at the Thomas Paine Cottage

Authentic Colonial Interpreters make history fun ! !

Not only is March “coming in like a lion” but it’s also when we celebrate Women’s History Month.

At the Thomas Paine Cottage on Sicard Avenue in New Rochelle, they celebrate in a very Colonial way! Authentic Colonial Interpreters will be creating live history.

For the entire afternoon of Saturday March 10th, Colonial ladies will be helping visitors understand what life was like for the 18th century woman. For all school ages, this is a wonderful event to fulfill a school requirement or just to have some fun for everyone.

They invite you to interact with their costumed colonial ladies as they work on their sewing & perform daily chores.

As you enter the cottage the ladies will be busy sewing needed garments for themselves, their family and for paying customers. As they hand stitch their goods, they will discuss with you aspects of women's life in the 18th Century.

Have a conversation about food preparation, home medicine, midwifery, child rearing, high & low clothing, women's businesses and so much more! The event is one day only from 11am until 5pm. The Thomas Paine Cottage Museum will be open for viewing from 10am.
