2 Charged With Drunk Driving During DWI Crackdown: Cops

The holiday drunk driving enforcement led to 2 arrests in Southold Town, police say.

SOUTHOLD, NY — Two drunk drivers were cuffed during a DWI crackdown in Southold Town, police said.

Paquale P. Cutone, 56, was arrested on Wednesday at 10:57 p.m. on County Road 48 in Mattituck and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, aggravated unlicensed operation, and failure to maintain lane, police said.

During the driving while intoxicated task force enforcement, Cutone was seen failing to maintain his lane while traveling west on County Road 48, police said.

Cutone was stopped, found to be intoxicated and to have a revoked license; he was arrested by Southold Town Police and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters where he was held pending arraignment in Southold Town Justice Court, police said.

On Thanksgiving, Richard Day, 26, of Southold was arrested at 1:56 a.m. on Central Avenue in Greenport and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said.

Also during the town police's driving while intoxicated task force enforcement, Day was stopped for several traffic violations while driving on Central Avenue; he was arrested by a Suffolk County Highway Patrol officer, transported to police headquarters, processed, and held for arraignment, police said.
