200 Room Hotel Proposed For Capital One Site In Mattituck

A proposal for a three-story, 200 room hotel on Route 25, at the former Capital One site, would need special exception approval by the ZBA.

MATTITUCK, NY — A new proposal has been submitted for a three-story, 200 room hotel at the former site of the Capital One administrative building on Route 25 in Mattituck.

An application for the proposal at the parcel, located at 9105 Main Road in Mattituck, was submitted to the Southold Town building department on Feb. 20, 2018, according to a notice of disapproval obtained by Patch.

The Southold Town building department issued that notice of disapproval on March 23, noting that the proposed three-story building would not be allowed under town code in the business district, which limits building height to two stories.

In order for the applicant to move forward with the plan, "the proposed construction requires special exception approval from the Southold Town Zoning Board of Appeals and site plan approval from the Southold Town Planning board," the notice of disapproval reads.

The owner of the parcel, Alan Cardinale of Cardinale Management in Mattituck, is represented by attorney William Goggins. Goggins declined to comment and Cardinale did not return a call requesting additional information about the project.
