2000+ Storm Outages, LIRR Service Disrupted Due To Tree On Tracks

SOUTHOLD, NY — Friday's storm slammed the North Fork, with more than 2,000 power outages and numerous other issues reported across Southold Town, according to Supervisor Scott Russell.
A Long Island Rail Road train had to turn back in Mattituck due to a downed tree across the tracks in Southold, the supervisor said. Crews were reported to be on the way out but service was expected to be disrupted for a few hours, he said.
According to theLIRR on Twitter, "The 2:43 p.m. train from Greenport, due inRonkonkoma at 4:06 p.m., originated at Mattituck today due to a fallen tree across the tracks east of the station. It is operating 61 minutes late due to weather-related problems."

Of those outages, 1,359 were reported in the Greenport/East Marion area, with PSEG estimating restoration by 7 p.m., he said.
In addition to the outages, there was a brief pole fire at the causeway in East Marion, Russell said.

There were also some isolated areas with flooding and roads closed in New Suffolk Friday, Russell said.
