9th Death Reported At LI Retirement Community
The 98-year old woman who died at Peconic Landing was the ninth to lose her life to the new coronavirus at the retirement community.

GREENPORT, NY — A ninth death related to the new coronavirus has been reported at the Peconic Landing retirement community in Greenport.
"With deep sadness, Peconic Landing reports a ninth death amongst our members in connection with COVID-19," a release said Sunday. "Out of respect for the family, we provide the following information: The member was a 98-year-old woman of The Shores for Skilled Nursing. She tested positive on March 19 and passed away on April 4 while receiving care at Peconic Landing. She had known pre-existing conditions."
As of Sunday, the current number of active confirmed cases among members stands at seven, with all located within the health center; the current number of active confirmed cases among team members is also seven, Peconic Landing said.

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to those she leaves behind," said Robert Syron, president and CEO. "The Peconic Landing family is thinking of you during this time of sadness."
Family members continue to cry out for across the board testing for coronavirus at Peconic Landing and other retirement communities LI-wide.

Last week, a couple married more than 40 years who lived at Peconic Landing died four days apart of coronavirus.
As of Sunday, at total of 175 have died across Suffolk County of coronavirus; on Monday, the number of confirmed cases countywide was 13,363.
