Absentee Ballots Counted Wednesday In Nail Biter Southold Races
Absentee ballots could determine nail biter races for Soutnold town board and town highway superintendent seats.

SOUTHOLD, NY — Counting of absentee ballots will begin Wednesday to determine the outcome of nail biter races in Southold Town.
According to the Suffolk County Board of Elections, there are 614 absentee votes to be counted. In the race for a Southold Town board seat, Democrat Mary Eisentein, who received 3,417 votes, is trailing GOP candidate Bob Ghosio, who garnered 3540 votes, by 123 votes.
In the race for Southold Town Highway Superindentent, Dem Gene Wesnofske, who received 3,339 votes, is behind GOP incumbent Vincent Orlando, who garnered 3,626, by 287 votes.

Of those 614 absentee ballots, 243 are Dems, 203, Republican, 9 are from the Conservative Party, 1 from the Green Party of Suffolk County, 2 from the Working Families Party, 22 from the Independence Party, 1 "other," and 133 blanks, according to the BOE.
In the race for Suffolk County Sheriff, Errol Toulon Jr. is ahead by 1,538 votes and maintaining his lead as the absentee votes continue to be counted, according to the BOE.
