LONG ISLAND, NY — After months of cold, snowy days, of wind and rain and plunging temperatures — on Tuesday, Long Islanders reveled in the bliss of a beautiful spring day.
But will the warm temps — highs Tuesday were expected to reach the upper 60s — and sunshine hold out until the weekend?
Here's a look at the week ahead, according to the National Weather Service:
Tuesday Afternoon
Sunny, with a temperature falling to around 65 by 5 p.m. South wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Tuesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 53. Southwest wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph.
Wednesday
A slight chance of showers before 2 p.m., then rain after 2pm. High near 64. South wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Wednesday Night
Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 p.m., then rain between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m., then a chance of showers after 2 a.m. Low around 49. South wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

A 50 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 64. West wind around 7 mph.
