GREENPORT, NY — Greenport was alive with all the colors of the rainbow, the mood festive, as the 4th Annual North Fork Pride Parade and Festival kicked off Saturday.
The event — with this year's theme "Unstoppable Pride — Here, Now, Always" — brought crowds to the village.
Hosted by the LGBT Network, the 4th annual North Fork Pride Parade and Festival focused on LGBTQ+ visibility, mental health, and community advocacy, organizers said.
The parade kicked off at noon, "in a vibrant display of love, unity, and pride," organizers said.
The festival took place along Greenport’s Front and Main Streets and in Mitchell Park, showcasing local businesses serving food, wine and beer, artisanal items, and local goods as well as resource and info booths, organizer said.
"North Fork Pride is a celebration and a statement," organizers said. "The theme of this year's Pride is 'Unstoppable Pride,' reflecting the continued strength, visibility, and resilience of our local LGBTQ+ communities at a time when LGBTQ+ people continue to be targeted in schools, legislatures, and courts and face renewed threats to healthcare access and safety. North Fork Pride sends a strong, unified message: We will not be silenced, and we will not be erased."
