NORTH FORK, NY — The first-ever Kenney's Beach Sunset Market is set to unfold Saturday.

The event, hosted by the Kenney's/McCabe's Beach Civic Association, takes place on August 15 from 5 p.m. to sunset in the Kenney's Beach parking lot.

The market represents an "unprecedented event of this nature to take place at a Southold Town beach," organizers said.

"Kenney's Beach is already one of the most popular and festive places to enjoy the glorious North Fork sunsets. We see this event as a way to amplify the special experience of Kenney's Beach, while raising awareness of our vital organization, building community spirit and providing an opportunity for local small businesses and entrepreneurs," said association board member and local business owner Glen Hoffman.

A variety of food and beverage offerings, as well as merchandise, art and artisan crafts will be represented, organizers said.

Participating vendors include Little Fish Restaurant, NOFOk'n Way, artist Melissa Hyatt, Forked Road Press and several other local purveyors and crafts-persons.

The event will also feature a raffle and 50/50 in support of the organization's community activities, organizers said.

"We are so excited to enhance the Kenney's Beach experience. We look forward to welcoming community members as they cap off their day at the beach or kick off their evening sunset viewing," Bridget Rymer, vice-president of the Association, said.

The Kenney's/McCabe's Beach Civic Association is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the residential character and natural environment of the neighborhood surrounding Kenney's and McCabe's beaches, and to promote and protect the common interests of the area and its community members.

The event was rescheduled from July.
